Nothing Like Some Holiday Drama!

Valentine's Day is supposed to be a day of romance and going out to dinner and candy.

Instead it was full of IVs, ultrasounds, and doctors.

I woke up at 2AM on Monday morning not feeling well.  Honestly, I didnt think much of it -- at 30 weeks pregnant, discomfort is normal.  But it was different this time.  Pain across my belly and my back.  I spent 2 hours being sick every 20 minutes.  Even water wasnt staying down.  Bad enough that I called the OB at 4AM.  Not surprisingly, he told me to come to the hospital to get fluids back in me and we could monitor the baby just to be sure all was well.

My parents dont live too far away but it was the longest 25 minutes ever waiting for my dad to come over to be in charge of Grace and getting her off to school.

At the hospital, the ER sent me straight to labor and delivery and got me all hooked up.  The pain was so bad from whatever was wrong that I couldnt concentrate on anything, including the beautiful sound of Baby's heartbeat filling the room from the monitors strapped to my belly.  It took 2 IV doses of pain meds for me to feel any relief from the pain.  It was the worst, most incapicitating pain I have ever felt!

Finally an ultrasound found the reason ---- my gallbladder is in very very bad shape.  Gallstones and gravel/sand.  Who knew such a small organ could cause so much pain.

The plan now is getting through the next 10 weeks, deliver the baby, wait about 6 weeks, and have gallbladder removal surgery.  In the meantime, I get to enjoy a low fat diet.  No cheese, no red meat, no fried anything, no fast food, no creamy dressings.  None.  So far in the past 24 hours I have eaten jello, ginger ale, and oatmeal.  YUMMY.

Oh my goodness I am so sorry to hear this! Hope that the pain subsides for the next 10 weeks! I can definitely relate, I had a kidney infection and a kidney stone at 32 weeks with Landon. Its always something isn't it?
